Mrs. Frances Durham Brewton, of Woodruff, South Carolina departed this life on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional.

She was born on April 10, 1925 to the late Emma and Theodore Durham.

Mrs. Brewton graduated from New Bethel High School in Woodruff and Sims High School of Union, South Carolina. Mrs. Brewton worked most of her adult life in domestic service and as a seamstress with Her Majesty Textiles in Simpsonville, South Carolina. She retired from manufacturing in 1992. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess before her health began to fail.

Mrs. Brewton was preceded in death by her late husband Marion Brewton Sr., five sisters, Mrs. Nellie McBeth, Mrs. Wilma Washington, Mrs. Fannie Benson, Mrs. Barbara Johnson and Ms. Patsy Durham and one brother Mr. Theodore Durham Jr.

Leaving to cherish her memories are one daughter, Mrs. Eula Todd (Theodore Powers-special friend); four sons, Mr. William (Carol) Durham, Mr. Marion C. (Kim) Brewton, Jr., Mr. Melvin (Argyl) Brewton, and Rev. James (Theresa) Brewton all of Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Eight grandchildren; Kenyatta, Angela, Khori, Chandra, Erica, Justin, Jamie and Adam. She also leaves a legacy of love and care for her great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
