Mrs. Betty Doris Conner, 86, of 157 Carolina Avenue, Spartanburg, South Carolina entered eternal rest on Friday, January 5, 2018 after a brief illness at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.
Mrs. Conner was a native of Spartanburg County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Ruth Nickerson. She was reared in the home of her Grandmother, Mrs. Susie Evans. She was the wife of Mr. Doffus Conner Jr. for 57 years of marriage.
Mrs. Betty Conner, was educated in the Spartanburg County School System. She was a devoted employee of Bell Laundry for more than thirty years. She was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Whitestone, South Carolina where she served faithfully for 74 years on the Senior Choir, Pastor’s Aid, Sunday School and as a Trustee’s Wife.
Mrs. Betty Conner, was proceeded in death by one sister, Gladys Cunningham, and two sons, John Murphy and James Murphy Jr; two grandsons, Bradford Murphy and Colby Connor and one great-grand daughter, Savannah Murphy.
In addition, to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Susie Miller of Boiling Springs, SC, Sarah Browning of Florence, SC and Geneva Bomar (Curtis) of Duncan, SC; three sons, Ulysses Murphy (Mamie) of Boiling Springs, SC, Randy Murphy of Spartanburg, SC, Harold Conner (Robin) of Inman, SC.
She also leaves to cherish fond memories ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand daughter; four sister-in-laws, Essie McCluskey of Atlanta, GA, Sara Powell of Abbeville,
SC, Geneva Connor of Greenwood, SC and Rev. Daisy Thomas (Norman) of Greenwood, SC; three brother-in-laws, Bishop Edward Connor of Sacramento, CA, Freddie Connor (Naomi) of San Francisco, CA, Rev. Samuel Connor (Betty) of Greensboro, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
