Mr. McDuffie Gilliam WOODRUFF, SC– Mr. McDuffie Gilliam, 80, of 125 Law Street, passed into eternity on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. He was the son of the late Pearl and Jake Elmore and the late Ulyses and Julia Pearson. He joins in eternal rest one sister, Edna Pearson, one brother, Bobby Pearson, and three very special cousins, Frances Jones, Julius Gilliam, and Joe Gilliam. Mr. Gilliam was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Woodruff, SC. After 33 years of loyal service, he retired from Jeffrey/Dresser Mfg. Co. in Woodruff. For more than 20 years, he was also a dedicated employee of W.J. Gist Mortuary. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Charlie Mae Gilliam; one daughter, Mrs. Shelvia Jamison and her husband Dr. Alan Jamison of Spartanburg, SC; and one granddaughter, Miss Sarah Jamison of Arlington, VA; six sisters: Vivian Stephens, of Enoree, SC, Dr. Carolyn (William) Durham of Spartanburg, SC, Lilly Ruth Stephens of Woodruff, SC, Linda (Lonnie) Goode of Spartanburg, SC, Sandra (Paul) Gilliam of Moore, SC, Sundra (Henry) Byrd of Mauldin, SC, Dr. Phyllis (Jerry) Elmore of Dallas, TX, and Dawn (James) Burroughs of Atlanta, GA; three brothers: John (Lucy) Gilliam of Woodruff, SC, Fred (Carrie) Gilliam of Spartanburg, SC, and Keith Pearson of Enoree, SC; three very special cousins: James (Lola) Gilliam of Moore SC, Geraldine Cook, and Henrietta Gilliam of Woodruff, SC. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Woodruff, SC. Burial will be held in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at W.J. Gist Mortuary in Woodruff.
