Mrs. Addie Mae Briggs

OBITUARY

Addie Mae Briggs was born November 14, 1946, to the late Lizzie Peake Gilliam and Early Foster. Addie was the oldest of seven girls and two boys. Addie enjoyed cooking for her siblings and ensured that they were taken care of while their mother worked outside of the home. Addie graduated from New Bethel High School in 1964. In 1965, Addie married the love of her life, Thomas Edward Briggs. Together they raised four children in their home in Cross Keys, South Carolina. Addie was preceded in death by her daughter Gwenda and her husband of 49 years Thomas.

Addie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Vincent E. Da Prince of Austin Texas, Angela Renae Little and her husband, Cecil of Ooltewah, Tennessee and Eric Briggs of Cross Keys. One grandson Jordan Briggs of Jacksonville, FL. Four sisters, Velma (Odell) Hunter of Greenville SC, Betty Foster of Spartanburg SC, Quency (Cedric) Henson of San Antonio Texas, and Marie (Ray) Butler of Enoree, SC. One brother, Clarence Gilliam Jr. of Cross Anchor S.C. Three siblings Mattie Vinson, Jeanette Foster and Jeremiah Gilliam preceded her in death. Addie’s life is also celebrated by her husband’s brother, Donald Briggs and sisters-in-law Bernice Briggs and Marion Briggs. She will be missed dearly by her uncle, Allen Peake Jr., a special aunt, Mary Ruth Dogan, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, Tupperware customers and friends, as well as her brothers and sisters in the Worldwide Organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
