LIFE PROFILE Deacon John “Pig” Bennett, 81, of 529 Harrison Street transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. John was born on November 6, 1939 in Woodruff, SC. John was an avid sports fan. He was the quarterback for New Bethel High School, Woodruff, SC. John retired from Beverage-Air after 43 years of service. John was a long time deacon and faithful member of Lanford Grove Holiness Church in Woodruff, SC. John was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ethel Mae Bennett and a brother, William “Boot” Bennett. John leaves to cherish precious memories; his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy “Dot” Bennett; Two daughters, Karen (Patrick) Garrett, Tonya (Darrell) Smith; One nephew reared in the home as a son, Yamel Farmer (Lisa); and a niece reared in the home as a daughter, Pam Brown; Four grandchildren, Antwone, Galen, Porchee’ (Malcolm), and Kalen; Four great-grandchildren Decha, Antwone (Jr), Jamarian, and Malachi; One brother, Michael Bennett of Raleigh N.C; Two sisters, Wanda Kay Hunter of Savannah, GA and Karen Clyburn Bennett of Washington D.C.; Two brothers in laws, James “Ducy” Higgins ( Mildred) of Goose Creek, SC and Timothy Waters of Spartanburg, SC; One sister-in-law, Sara Ann Bennett of Greenville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. |
