On the evening of Monday, May 13th, 2019, the honorable Mr. Michael Toy Peake transcended from his earthly home to his place in the heavenly kingdom that had been prepared for him. A native of Spartanburg County, he was born on February 18th, 1958 to the late Mr. Toy and Willie Mae Peake. Michael, also known as our beloved “Hammer,” was an incomparable star athlete at James F. Byrnes High School. Upon graduating, he took his talents to the stomping grounds of Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. Years later, he became, and remained, a devoted employee of Sew Euro-drive where he eventually retired from after 17 years of dedication. Although he grew up as an active member at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist church (his family church home), he later became a fervent member, and Senior Deacon at The Word Miracle Center lead by Apostle Anthony Pearson. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Patricia G. Peake, Barbara A. Peake, Annie R. Peake, Shirley M. Peake; and one nephew, Tyrone Peake. Left behind to cherish and honor the remarkably vibrant spirit of Michael T. Peake is his wife, Kandas Peake; his two daughters, La’Toya Sherese Peake, and Michel’le Peake; one step-daughter, Forrest Lane; three step-sons, Cody Lane (Kayla), Kolton Dowdle, and Khori Dowdle; his three grandchildren, Zion Niquez Peake, Zireon Ashton Peake, and Kensley Mahari Rutherford; his two sisters, Betty J. Jenkins and Linda Peake; and an exceptional host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. |
