Mrs. Nancy Lee Goodman, 82, of 2304 Old Spartanburg Hwy, Woodruff SC, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Pelham Medical Center in Greer SC.

Nancy Lee Goodman (née Thompson) was born in Fairfield County on June 11, 1936 to Ida Elizabeth and Bryce Kelly Thompson. Nancy Lee was the eldest of ten children: Carrie Sue Goodman, Jesse Thompson and Isaac (Martha) Thompson of Woodruff, SC; Robert Earl (Michelle) of Roebuck SC; Barbara Jean House, Rose Nell (Gregory) Smith of Newark, NJ; Ruby Farmer of Lakewood, NJ; Maggie Miller of Berea, SC; and Jeremiah (Cecilia) Thompson of Bonaire, GA; three step-sisters, Elizabeth Meadows, Bernice Bivens, Rebecca Thompson, all of Woodruff, SC.

At seventeen, she married Odell Goodman Jr., and they grew their family by three: Perry Gregory Goodman and Anthony Quinn Goodman, both preceded her in death and Phyllis Marie Goodman. Nancy retired from Springs Industries in Lyman SC, but her life’s work was serving God and loving her family — she reminded us of the order, balance, and harmony in following God’s path, and the importance of family and tradition.

Nancy was a lifetime member of Switzer Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Switzer, SC. She also enjoyed exercising and spent thousands of hours at Curves Fitness in her retirement. A mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend to many, Nancy is survived immediately by her husband of 64 years, Odell, her daughter Phyllis, and grandson Sean Phelps reared in the home.
