Life Profile
Mr. Melvin Stephen Gray, 74 , son of the late Chevis Ferguson and Margaret Gray Pitts passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
Melvin was a 1967 graduate of New Bethel High School of Woodruff, SC and a graduate of Aerial Trade College, Denmark, SC. He was employed at BJ Memorial Hospital in Woodruff, SC and St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC and he retired from Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco, California.
Melvin united with the Beaverdam Baptist Church in Enoree, SC where he served on the Usher Ministry and Choir.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents whom he was reared by Rev. Stacy and Lillie Stephens Gray, two brothers Robbie Ferguson Wady, and Kevin Ferguson, one sister Cynthia Ferguson.
Survivors include his son’s Melvin Jr. and Stacy Gray, both of Enoree, SC; a devoted father George Pitts of Enoree, SC; sisters Roslyn Gray Boyd of Enoree, SC, Florencine Loften, Paula and Veronica Ferguson, both of San Francisco, CA; brothers J. Chancey, Chevis Jr., Joseph and Johnny Ferguson, all of San Francisco, CA; nineteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a paternal aunt Daisy Floyd of Las Vegas, NV; a special godson Demonie Phillips; two special friends John Daniel, of the home and Debra Hair. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and love for his family.
