CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF Mrs. Dorothy Ann Montgomery July 21, 1930 – March 9, 2016 Two O’clock in the Afternoon New Bethel Baptist Church 490 Cross Anchor Road, Woodruff, South Carolina The Reverend Lawrence Meadows, Pastor.

LIFE PROFILE On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, Mrs. Dorothy Ann Montgomery peacefully departed this life at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Mrs. Montgomery, affectionately known as Precious by her beloved grandchildren and Dot-Dot by her friends, was born in Spartanburg County, to the late Russell and Lottie Bell Watson and she was the widow of James Clinton Montgomery. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and Trustee-ette. As the first Black female employee at Reeves Brothers Mills Mill, she retired after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 270. She was an excellent cook, avid sports fan who enjoyed watching basketball, football, and golf, and an excellent conversationalist who reached out to friends in the community.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Moseley, brother-in-law, James Moseley and niece, Margaret Moseley.

She leaves to cherish many loving memories: two daughters, Sarah Jacqueline Austin, and Linda Ann Phelps(Joseph) of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Tamieka Phelps of Acworth, GA and Travis Phelps(Kade) of Greenville, SC; five great grandchildren, Jordan, Arayna, Isaiah, Eli, and O’Shea; sisters-in-law, Alice Rhodes and Betty Montgomery of Woodruff, SC; special nieces, Diane Cohen and Dometrea Alverson of Spartanburg, SC, Louise Moseley of Mauldin, SC, Sue Moates and Faye Moseley of Woodruff, SC; special nephews, Minister Walter Moseley(Diane) of Mauldin, SC, Leon Moseley of Spartanburg, SC and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
