Life Profile

Mrs. Pauline Gray Massey entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at National Health Care in Laurens SC.

She was born in Spartanburg County to the late Stacy Gray and Lillie Stephens Gray. At an early age she joined Beaverdam Baptist Church in Enoree, SC where she was an active member. She was the Mother of the Church, a Deaconess, the president of Pastor’s Aide, a member of the Senior Choir, and a faithful servant of the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband David Massey Sr.; three brothers, Paul Philson, James Gray Sr., and Israel Gray; and two sisters, Helen Gray Westfield, and Margret Gray Pitts; one granddaughter, Paula Hunter, and one great grandson, Christopher Massey.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are six daughters, Ms. Maxine Hunter, Mrs. Barbara (John) Norman, both of Enoree, SC, Mrs. Carolyn (Marvin) Jeter of Woodruff, SC, Ms. Delores Brewster, Mrs. Emma (John) Merrill, both of Ora, SC, and Mrs. Lillie (Paul) Abrams of Gray Court, SC; two sons, Mr. David Massey Jr. of Enoree, SC, and Mr. Donald (Roberta) Massey of Gray Court, SC; twenty-four grandchildren; seventy great grandchildren; and forty great-great grandchildren; followed by a host of great– great– great– grandchildren, nieces, nephews. One brother-in-law, Mr. George Pitts of Enoree, SC; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Joyce Philson of Spartanburg, SC, and a host of friends.
