A precious one from us has gone. A voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our home, That only God can fill.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020 the Lord gently and calmly took our loved one home.

Mrs. Emma J. Moates of 214 Quartermaster Rd in Spartanburg, SC entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Walter Parks Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Maude Parks. She was born June 22, 1949 in Spartanburg County in South Carolina.

Emma was educated at New Bethel High School in Woodruff, SC. She was married to the late Mr. Clyde Moates Jr.

Emma was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Enoree, SC.

Mrs. Moates was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Sr. and Annie Maude Parks, three brothers, Tommy Parks, Walter Parks Jr., Marvin Parks, six sisters, Jessie Bell Browning, Evelyn P. Ballenger, Annie T. Miller, Agnes Parks Mayes, Roberta P. Rice and Gwendolyn Parks. Left to cherish fond memories are her three children, Teresa (Carlos) Goodman, Franklin (Thomasina) Parks and Curtis (Tanya) Parks; two grandchildren reared in the home, Carlos S. Goodman, Shanice Goodman; 8 additional grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Lucy (John Cal) Gilliam; two sister-in-laws, Ann Parks of Woodruff, SC, Ruby Lee Parks of Laurens, SC; one uncle, Archie Watson of Evansten, Il; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
