Mr. James Briggs, peacefully departed this life at Woodruff Manor Nursing Home, Woodruff, SC, On the morning of February 25, 2020.

He was born in Spartanburg County and was the son of the late James Montgomery and Essie Mae Briggs.

He was the husband of the late Ida Pearl Booker Briggs.

James was preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis Briggs, Peter Eugene Briggs, JC Briggs, Willie Earl Briggs and Junior Briggs; one sister, Willie Mae Peake.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; one daughter, Willie Pearl Hall of Cross Anchor, SC; two sons, James Russell (Linda) Briggs of Moore, SC, and Ervin Eugene Briggs of Whitmire, SC; one brother, Russell (Onie) Briggs of Spartanburg, SC; two daughter-in-laws, Mary Briggs of Cross Anchor, SC; and Brenda Briggs of Newberry, SC; ten, Grandchildren, Cynthia Michelle Evans of Birmingham, Al, Kevin Demond Briggs of Leland, NC, Tiffany Nicole Hall, Tracy Nicole (Franklin) Wilson, Brandy Briggs, all of Cross Anchor, SC, Joshua Eugene Shell of Newberry, SC, Kissy Lacresha (Deveaus) Young of Prosperity, SC, Rico Briggs of Newberry, SC, Latasha Fair of Gray Court, SC and Lisa Price of Newberry, SC; Twelve great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; a special nephew Otis Booker and great niece Wanda Booker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
