Mrs. Jeralene (Jeri) Bennett Green was born June 9, 1944 in Woodruff, S.C. She was the daughter of the late R.D. and Lathadues Bennett. Jeralene attended New Bethel School, 1st thru 12th grade. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church in Enoree, SC.
Jeralene relocated to Washington, D.C. after high school and began a career in the federal government. She began her career as a clerk typist at the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and retired as the Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As the EPA FOI Officer, Jeralene was responsible for coordinating Head Quarter and regional responses for Congressional and White House inquires related to national environmental issues. She received numerous awards and accolades from top governmental officials and colleagues alike.
Jeralene will be missed by many. She is survived by her immediate family: husband, Wilbert Green, Jr. and daughter, Rosalind Yvette Brown; sisters: Martha Woodruff, Betty (Aaron) Ruthe, and Doretha (Yakubu) Otijele; brother: Belton (Charlyn) Foster; Nieces: Hazel Winborne and Chardae (Joseph) Gray; Nephews: Adrian (Kindell) Ruthe, Gamaliel Otijele, Terrence Foster; great nieces: Teran Winborne, Erin Ruthe, Aubrey Winborne, Abigail Gray; great nephews: Stephen Winborne, Devin Jackson, Bryson Winborne, Bralin Winborne, Elijah Gray, Elijah Otijele; best friends Vivian Norman, and Gloria Butler.
